Alternative Plan for 2020 Convnetion
As you are aware, the GPLTC Board has made the extremely difficult decision to forgo the 2020 in-person convention in Rogers, Arkansas, due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus. While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we have prayerfully made the decision that we feel provides a healthy and safe environment for our participants and all others involved with Great Plains Leadership Training for Christ. Because we know how disappointing this is to so many, we have created an alternate plan that we hope will still provide a positive, developmental experience for all of our participants.
We are encouraging congregations to allow participants to complete their events. This can take place in a number of ways to suit the needs of your congregation. Ideally, this alternate plan allows for multi-generational involvement, which is a core value of GPLTC.
A description of this alternate plan, as well as instructions for congregations and coordinators going forward, can be found on the GPLTC website.
Personally, I would like to thank all of our congregations, coordinators, coaches, parents, and participants for their patience and understanding as we have worked through this. Our Board of Directors has moved as quickly and thoroughly as possible to ensure that we make the best of this confusing and chaotic situation, and I am confident in the plan that has been put into place. I ask that you continue to show patience with us, knowing that these decisions had to be made considering the good of all of our congregations and participants, and understanding that what is best for one group may not work as well for the group as a whole.

The GPLTC Board continues to assess the impact of COVID-19. Based on recent recommendations by the CDC and other government agencies, we have made the extremely difficult decision to forgo the in-person convention in Rogers, Arkansas. While we understand how disappointing this is, the primary goal of our organization is to provide a healthy and safe environment for our participants and all others involved with the Great Plains Leadership Training for Christ 2020 Convention.
Our plan is to move forward and conduct convention events in a non-traditional manner. Given the fact that the vast majority of participants have completed pre-convention events and will have the opportunity to complete convention events in an alternate manner, we will be unable to provide refunds for registration fees. The GPLTC Board will be releasing an additional statement regarding next steps. We appreciate your patience and understanding!
